Forgewood Housing Cooperative (FHC) aims to create a community facility which will meet the need for improved learning and training opportunities, youth activities, and support and advice services in the community of Forgewood, Motherwell which suffers high levels of multiple deprivation. This five year project involves the construction of a new community centre on the site of the council-owned community building which is no longer fit for purpose. Activities and services to be delivered from the centre aim to meet the needs and demands of the local community, including parent and toddlers group, older people's lunch club, welfare rights service, youth drop-in, adult education classes, and a credit union. The project aims to benefit all residents of the local community, with services particularly targeted at young people, older people, and local people of Eastern European origin.
