The project will regenerate an isolated car park in Carnmoney Hill, an area used for bonfires and as a dumping ground. The site is at the entrance of 'Rathfern Wood' (a community woodland created with the help of local residents) and once finished will provide a wildlife haven and community amenity. The land is owned by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE). It is proposed that a lease agreement will be drawn up between NIHE and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
