What's it all about?

The National Lottery Community Fund was a founding member of Go ON UK, with whom we developed this funding programme to encourage and support more people to use computers and the internet.

Over 16 million adults in the UK don’t have the basic online skills to fully benefit from the internet, and around 7.4 million have never used a computer or the internet at all. This means that some of the most vulnerable people in society are missing out on the many benefits of the digital world.

Through this programme £15 million was be available to fund a small number of projects with UK-wide significance.

Next steps

The programme made an award of £5.8 million to the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) in September 2014. The Online Today! project will work with 37 national and local partners in 195 local authority areas across the UK.

Our plan is to reserve the remaining £9 million for digital inclusion and we are in discussions with Go ON UK about the best approach and an announcement will be made in due course.
