This programme is closed for applications
This £72 million programme supported work that tackled the causes of poverty and deprivation, and aimed to bring about a long-term difference to the lives of the most disadvantaged people across the globe.
£60 million was available for the following:
- International Communities
- International Strategic
- International Small Grants
£12 million to help Tsunami long-term reconstruction.
International Strategic
The strategic stream of the International programme funded portfolios of projects that together formed a cohesive strategy to tackle the causes of poverty and deprivation and bring about a long-term difference to the lives of the most disadvantaged people.
Under round two we made £15 million available to fund projects that aimed to deliver one or more of the following outcomes:
- Improved mother and child health
- Improved primary education, with a specific focus on girls
- Improved measures to prevent HIV/AIDS and mitigate its impact.
International Strategic funded projects in sub-Saharan Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and the following states in India: Assam, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharastra, Madya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Jharkand.
