Norfolk Community College
Norfolk Community College supports long term unemployed people facing complex and multiple barriers across Norfolk. A state of art of mobile training unit makes services accessible in areas where travelling is a barrier.
Skills Connectors help individuals identify their strengths and interests, and to consider steps towards improving their job prospects. Mentoring is available for those who are interested in setting up their own business or social enterprise. Help is available with barriers such as housing and debt issue, from multi-disciplinary workers, and the college’s links to other services. The project’s Employer Broker will be building relationships with employers to offer volunteer or work placement opportunities.
Opportunity Suffolk
Opportunity Suffolk supports long-term unemployed people facing complex and multiple barriers in Suffolk
The flexible programme is designed to help individuals develop the skills they need to step towards work. The programme is tailored specifically to individual needs, whatever and however complex they may be. Mentors offer support in building and completing a personalised action plan for finding employment and overcoming individual barriers to it. As well as support in applying for jobs, participants will receive help with building their motivation, confidence and English skills.
On Track - clearing barriers to work for Young People
A project for those aged 16-24 years olds in Norfolk who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). The project will specifically support young people with complex needs such as special educational needs or disability, mental health issues, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour or criminal activities. Coaches and mentors will help participants identify and make the most of the things they are good at, and develop these skills. Those taking part will have the chance to try out different types of work in construction, motor vehicles, catering and hospitality and care and childcare to find the jobs and training that best suit them.
Minding the Gap
A project for those aged 16-24 years olds in Suffolk with complex needs, who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). The project complements existing provision to work specifically with young people facing special educational needs or disability, mental health issues, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour or criminal activities.
