Local Youth Mentoring Scheme aims to help vulnerable children aged between 10 and 13 develop interests and relationships that will help them to avoid committing crimes by pairing them up with adult mentors. With help from a Lottery award the Scheme will be able to recruit and train six new volunteers to act as adult role models. The volunteers will work with the children to help them improve the educational achievement and introduce them to new activities that will help them to increase their skills base.
