This project, based in South Shields, supports local women to become active volunteers, participating in the development and provision of health-related services to meet local need, and offering peer support to other women who attend the centre. Beneficiaries are vulnerable women, who face the barriers of economic disadvantage, mental illness, abusive relationships and unsettled home lives. The project will enable them to improve and maintain their physical health and psychological well-being.
