Water Access and Wasteland Development for Marginalised Groups in Himalayan - Prosiect
Trosolwg o'r prosiect
The Himalayan deserts are a harsh terrain with severe winters, an arid climate and unproductive soil. Water comes mainly from glaciermelt and so arable land is limited by lack of irrigation. Desertification is increasing and droughts are frequent. Society is closed and patriarchal; eldest sons inherit all, leaving other siblings landless so they have to resort to pastoralism.
