The grant would be used to sustain 25 after school places for children aged 4-12 years old in Coalburn. The Coalburn and Clydesdale area has a high level of unemployment due to the reduction in the coal mining industry, which led to lower occupancy levels than anticipated. Additionally, a delay in the opening of the club resulted in some parents having to find alternative childcare arrangements. Approximately 8 places are currently filled on a daily basis.
