The grant will = fund the Inside Out Conversions Pilot Programme which aims to co-produce and evaluate a new prison based vocational and pre-employment training programme. CAP was formed in 2008 to support the development of ethical and social ventures helping people and organisations to develop their skills knowledge and purpose to create enterprise-based solutions to problems within their communities and within society. CAP will work with HMP Rochester to identify trainees. Each trainee will be actively involved in each stage of the conversion of a commercial vehicle (transit van-style vehicle) into a leisure vehicle (campervan-style) - briefing designing planning and conversion. They will learn key life skills key work skills and basic construction/maintenance skills (carpentry upholstery plumbing electrics and finishing). In addition to enhanced skills each trainee will access 1-2-1 pre-employment coaching job search support and work-readiness support. In essence the IOC project will engage them empower them train them and link them with recruiting employers.
