The funding will be used to provide street mentors working with young people in Croydon and Haringey. It works with young people aged between 10-25 years old which is made up of 50% BAME community. Mentors walk the streets in the area and link up with groups and gangs and offer them support training and counselling. It will provide informal training on things such as mindfulness techniques problem solving and goal setting. The project aims to reduce marginalisation and social exclusion for young people and allows those who would not normally engage with services to become involved.
