The Lavender project was set up to revive the lost tradition of lavender growing in south London, once considered the lavender capital of the world. A blooming mature lavender field has replaced disused, fly tipped allotments. Charshalton Lavender was formed to manage the project and related events, cross pollinating and varied interest and talents of artists, craftsmen, aroma therapists. A large part of the work for the group is weeding, strimming and mowing between the rows of lavender.
